Still, at least most of my Plumeria are still going strong, giving sweet memories of those hazy days past. Mind you, this won't last for too much longer, as over the next few weeks with the temperatures dropping they will soon start to look sleepy and drop their leaves in preparation for their winters nap. But thankfully, the Plumeria Warmers and Natural Daylight Bulbs in our Essential Supplies Catalogue do give you everything you need to keep your Plumeria safe and cosy throughout the long cold months |
| So, as the days now start to draw in and the light diminishes, you may have already noticed a slowdown in your Plumerias growth. As soon as you see signs of this, immediately cut down your watering regime, as your Plumeria will no longer require as much water as it did and overwatering can lead to a number of problems. To ensure this doesn't happen, always use one of our Water, Soil & Daylight Analysers or Water Monitors to double check exactly how much water is actually present at root level, as this will help you safely gauge whether water is needed and help guard against you making any mistakes |
| As night temperatures drop, if left unabated your Plumeria will now start to prepare for hibernation. The first signs of this are a yellowing of the leaves, which is followed by their drop, leaving just the stem. But, don't worry as this is quite natural and no cause for concern, as it is merely your Plumeria losing the leaves it no longer needs. When this happens you should stop watering and move your Plumeria to an inside, warm area where it can sleep happily through the winter. Light is not so important at this time, but warm air circulation is, so putting it on a mantelpiece, tabletop or sideboard is perfect and will help remind you to water lightly once per month with a few added drops of Superthrive to keep your Plumerias roots strong and healthy |

| Allowing your Plumeria to go dormant for the winter is a very natural and easy way to protect it from the cold, whilst also allowing it to recharge its batteries ready for next year. But, this may not suit everyone or every Plumeria, as depending on position, warmth and light, some Plumeria don't go dormant at all and will continue to grow throughout the winter. This scenario can also be encouraged by using one of our Plumeria Warmers and Natural Daylight Bulbs, which when combined with some Superthrive and Leafdew Plumeria Mist can keep your Plumeria ticking over very nicely and enable all year round growth to be achieved |
